Mid-week shenanigans!
Hey hey hey! Long time no see!
Yes, I know. I’ve been quite absent. I know it and I apologize. Not my intention. But as Daiana said in last week’s post entry, I’ve been really, really busy. With what you may ask? No, you probably didn’t ask, but I’ll tell you anyway.
For the past two months I’ve been writing, recording and mixing a new children’s musical, “Princesas, el Musical” (which translates into, surprise surprise, “Princesses, the Musical”. Shocking, I know), once again by Rueda Magica Producciones and directed by Leandro Montgomery.
The show was premiered on July 13th, and you can go see it at Terraza Teatro Bar, Paseo la Plaza, in Buenos Aires. It is about four Disney princesses (Aurora, Belle, Ariel and Rapunzel) attending a masquerade at the Disney Castle, where they’ll have to overcome some obstacles broughtby Rasputin and Maleficent.
Starring María Forte, Selva Lione, Alejandro Godoy, Ayelén Depirro, Estefania Maica, Evangelina Boguslawski and Nelly Morelli.
While I was working on ‘Princesses’, I found some time to collab with my good ol’ fellas Andy John Bradford’s Oceans 5, who asked me to do an orchestral arrangement for the track ‘6000 Friends’. The song features the usual suspects plus the fabulous Olivia Hadjiioannou on lead and backing vocals. For those who haven’t heard from Oceans 5, this one is a killer and should not be missed.
6000 Friends was finished, and so was Princesses. I told myself I would take a couple of weeks off work to rest my head. Obviously I did not. The most important one was still unfinished.
I did buy a new pillow two nights ago, though.
Robert had just finished recording the drumtrack for ‘Wish You Could Hear‘ and Rusty Dimmett from Kennesound Studios finished pre-mixing them, so I had everything I needed to finish the track after so long. I’ve been re-recording and re-arranging the orchestra to better fit the new percussion track, and mixing the whole piece. It’s sounding fabulous but there’s still a little while to go.
Last week, Colin and I uploaded “What You Will Never Hear’ to Soundcloud and Reverbnation. It is an unused out-take that did not make it to the final song, but it was interesting enough to be bootlegged for the ages! This is how ‘What You Will Never Hear’ sounds like. The Argentinian Department of Happy Noises rejected this take, but the rest of the piece is in a secure location, waiting to see the light of day. Stay tuned cause it’ll be a big one 😉
Till next week!
Andres The Restless
