Andres Guazzelli Releases Tribute EP “Awakening (In Memory of Colin Tench)”

Composer and producer Andres Guazzelli has released a heartfelt EP titled “Awakening (In Memory of Colin Tench)” in honor of his late friend and musical collaborator, Colin Tench. The EP, released today under Melodic Revolution Records, is available on major music platforms, including Apple Music and Amazon.

Colin Tench, an esteemed English guitarist known for his work with bands like Odin of London, BunChakeze, and the Colin Tench Project, passed away on December 27, 2017, shortly after releasing his album ‘Minor Masterpiece‘. His sudden departure left a profound impact on the music community and those who had the privilege of working with him.

“Awakening” delves into the emotions of grief, nostalgia, and acceptance following the loss of a loved one. The EP represents a three-year journey of self-discovery and reflection for Guazzelli, both as an artist and as an individual. Notably, the EP features Tench’s acoustic and electric guitar work, incorporating unused recordings from previous collaborations, including ‘Wish You Could Hear‘ and ‘Wötan: The Untold Story‘.

The EP comprises three tracks:

1. August (A Cold Winter Morning) – A haunting piece that musically navigates the five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.
2. December (A Warm Embrace) – A composition reflecting warmth and reminiscence amidst sorrow.
3. April (The Final Acceptance) – A concluding track symbolizing the journey towards acceptance and peace.

Guazzelli expressed the significance of this project, stating, “Colin was the person who basically kickstarted my career, and ‘August’ would be the first time in seven years his guitar playing wasn’t on an album of mine. I stripped ‘August’ down to its core, removing every single guitar and re-worked it to be more intimate and nostalgic. ‘August’ was meant to be a farewell. A warm goodbye in a cold winter morning in Argentina (August being the coldest month in the southern hemisphere). A journey through the different stages of grief. I wrote a farewell before knowing who I was saying goodbye to. Now I know. Godspeed, my good friend.”
